As a seasoned voice actor with 10+ years behind the mic, UNC (University North Carolina) Kenan-Flagler’s “Business for Life” quickly became a standout project in my portfolio.
It’s a two-minute brand film for the MBA program, my first for the school and, to this day, my favorite.
I partnered closely with Mark Forsyth, Executive Director of Marketing and Prospect Management, to shape a narration that reflects UNC Kenan-Flagler’s spirit: rigorous, collaborative, and purpose-driven.
First things first.
- I got up to speed, read the brief, and our target demographic (full-time, working professionals, and online MBA prospects), and the brand voice notes.
- Then we synced on the story: show the community in action and how real skills play out everywhere—boardrooms, hospitals, factories, construction sites, living rooms, even the soccer field.
- The vibe we aimed for was simple: confident and inspiring, but still real and human.
As a master’s graduate who worked full-time while completing my degree, I understand the realities of adult learners—the schedules, the sacrifices, the payoff.
I brought that lived experience to the read: steady pacing, empathetic emphasis, and a credible, forward-looking cadence
Before recording, I shared a tone board with three options—bright/aspirational, measured/professional, and a documentary blend.
We chose a balanced approach that could lift during travel sequences and settle into warmth for mentorship and community moments.
The narration invites prospective students to see themselves in the story: taking knowledge from the classroom into careers and communities, close to home and around the world.
That’s the heart of “Business for Life”—a message I was proud to voice!
If you’re crafting a university film that needs authenticity and polish, I bring both—along with a process that makes your edit easier ……and your message resonate.
